Hello friends! I’m back. Week 6…ready, set, go.

Chit-Chat

I have a confession. I have never actually participated in a Twitter chat. *cue gasps* Hold your judgment, Judy. Better late than never, right? I participated in CoSchedule’s #CoChat (July 30th at 1:00pm), which was all about keywords and SEO magic. Here’s the verdict:

Likes

  1. interaction with CoSchedule team & tech peers
  2. finding out it’s possible to learn something in under 140 characters
  3. gaining new followers / following new influential tech members

Dislikes

  1. real-time was a bit fast
  2. replies were scattered, which they were better organized

Overall, I really enjoyed participating in this Twitter chat. I would say my absolute favorite part about Twitter chats is how they connect you with other like-minded individuals. I gained a few followers after the chat (always a plus!), and I, myself, followed a few awesome people that will definitely add value to my Twitter timeline. The only real downside I noticed was how scattered people’s answers were. Some responded directly to CoChat’s tweet like this: Screen Shot 2015-07-31 at 8.21.27 PM

“A2” stands for Answer 2 in response to, you guessed it, Question 2. Truthfully, I answered both ways to see which one I liked better. I think everyone should just reply directly to the original tweet, just to keep some sort of order. If there were a more efficient / organized way for Twitter chat responses, I really wouldn’t have any critiques.

Honestly though, I WILL finish it this weekend if it’s the last thing I do.

EP Phone Home

You didn’t think I forgot about the legendary Digital Marketer EP, did you? Well for week 6 of trainings, the EP I chose was The Content Engine . It’s no secret that I love content marketing, so this EP was particularly interesting for me. Obviously everyone in the tech industry (at this point) knows that you absolutely need content. But what many people don’t truly understand is WHY you need content. I really like how the author, Russ Henneberry , explained it very succinctly. The entire EP basically focuses on the following as positives for having good content:

Maintain healthy email list
Content sells
Content is the key to retargeting

In case you’re wondering what re-targeting is (like I was), I’ll help explain. Re-targeting is basically a cookie-based technology that follows your buyers along the web to help “re-target” (heh, get it?) their attention back to you. I obviously inferred what re-targeting is by the name, but right when I was about to look it up to better understand the full meaning, Henneberry dives into a thorough explanation. Great EP, highly recommend.

    Thank you for yet another entertaining post and educational post! You’re going to become our community Jedi for SaaScend, I can see it.

    I would love to build a twitter chat into SaaScend’s marketing/community strategy. Perhaps we steal CoSchedules lead with something like #SaaSchat, the last tweet was 48 days ago 😀

    What was the specific reason that you liked the Direct reply vs the standard “A2:” tweet answer? What would be 1 tip you would have given the CoSchedule team to try to improve their twitter chat?

    No worries on the Code Challenge. They’re called a challenge for a reason! You’re biggest rival – Burk Sauce – also had a similar gif to indicate his efforts with the challenge. I will setup a training this week to build it with you guys.

    Poor form on Hubspot! For a company as big as their they should have included an embed link for their Wistia video… Tweet at telling them to do it 😀
