Editor’s Note: Week 1 of Red Bridge’s Training Course. The featured image is of a snow plow that I saw in the Rocky Mountains. It is huge and moves a lot of snow out of the way. It is an unstoppable force just like #TeamRB.
Digital Marketer (EP) – How to Master Google Analytics
I really like this EP from Digital Marketer. It was a lot of review, however. But it was nice to refresh and reinforce what I’ve already learned. Here are the two things that resonated with me most:
Automate Reporting
One HUGE thing that I wish I would’ve know about earlier about Google Analytics (GA) was that you can send reports to yourself (or anyone) automatically. Granted it’s not as nice as having Geckoboard, but by automatically setting up reporting emails in Google Analytics you can send stakeholders the data automatically instead of having to pull it manually.
Let’s say Sales Hacker is a client and Max keeps asking if we’re increasing website traffic. We can set it up to send him a report every week with the number of sessions in a given timeframe. OR if you want to know how a certain campaign is doing, same thing. Find what you want in GA and viola, have it email you a report.
Geo Campaign Tracking
Again off the reporting theme, you can use the geographic data to see where your audience is located. This works great to check and see if those twitter ads we’re running in New York City for a New York Conference are working because we should see a higher number of clicks in the region.
I just love this as a way to make sure your ads are working like they should. Coupled with UTM Parameters you can see that people in a certain region are clicking on your social ads or if they’re being click outside of that region. SUPER COOL!
Code – CodeAcademy HTML & CSS (85%) (100%)
YEEHAW! I finished CodeAcademy! You could say things are getting pretty serious. I have a new found confidence with the code and feel like I can relate to #CodeMode. After finishing The Academy I was able to finally get this post on sales development for Sales Hacker together…
Craig DID help me, BUT I did get it pretty close to done myself. It’s safe to say that I’m pretty proud of myself in the code department.
I am looking forward to the next step in my coding education.

THE BLUEPRINT OF MODERN PRODUCT LAUNCH MARKETING
Thoughts? More of the same. Basically emphasizes on the fact you can’t half-ass things or launch things before you’re ready.
I don’t recommend it. Could also be the fact I currently do not care about product marketing.
Hey Craig, can we talk about what “Product Marketing” means exactly? And how it fits into the B2B marketing mix?

Overall Thoughts
Love it. It forces me to actually learn something instead of putting it off until I have time. I also like doing this stuff in the beginning of the week to clear up my tasks ?
To recap, here are my takeaways:
Templates/SOP Mods
- Add Analysis to Blog SOP template
- Create Typeform that adds a row to the blog master spreadsheet with new post information using Zapier
- Create Asana task to fill out the previously mentioned Typeform for each new post using Zapier
Google Analytics
- Setup Monthly Reporting in Google Analytics
- Geo Reporting to measure Ad Targeting
