Hey everyone !! So here is my first post. I decided to write about my first weeks within both RecruitLoop and the USA.

It all started with 9’800 km (6090 miles), to come from Morocco to SF. For once, it was a decision that I took for myself. I remember creating my Facebook profile back in 2007, and choosing « California » as my home city, while dreaming about these wonderful places on the sea side.

Moving from “Kenza and the Camel”(Morocco) to “Kenza and the Golden Gate Bridge” !

And here we are 9 years after, in San Francisco with an AMAZING opportunity at RecruitLoop !

I could not have hoped for more !!! Well… for some (@Josh, @Jeff, @Paul) what I should wish for, now, is a date !!!!!

Concerning my training, it’s been few weeks now that I am with RecruitLoop, and there are so much things that I have learnt so far. From the GSD strategy they have to the application they are using passing through Code Academy and Digital Marketer. I am more than ever feeling thirsty of knowledge !

★GSD Strategy

GetShitDone Strategy, is something that I am still trying to get used to. At the contrary of Europe, where most the work is delayed because simply people are NOT motivated. Here everything is in place to motivate you and encourage you. At the end, you feel responsible of the result you are producing and get it done.

★Code Academy

I have to admit that I have finished 40% of my HTML & CSS training in 4 hours (#nerd) ! And I am almost done now (70%) !!! We can sum up my former IT skills in four words: “ Google is my friend”. Everything is on google, and even if I learnt by myself how to code in VBA (Excel), I did it thanks to Google. Code Academy is really good, easy and interactive. I recommend CodeAc for anyone that had Google as his only IT friend ! Having this training, helped me to better understand how most of the websites are done, it helped me acquire this “developer logic” that is quite hard to get when you have done Economics and International Business in your Master’s Degree.

AND I have to admit that I felt powerful knowing all these things on HTML & CSS, I imagined myself being the female version of “Mr Robot” (TV Show), hacking, creating, editing, and fixing bugs (#nerd^2). (Should look like this…)

★Digital Marketer (EP)

My training on Digital Marketer was focused on “How to master Google Analytics”. The only thing I can say is : This thing is powerful !

Basically GoogleA tracks and reports everything that happens on your website. From the location of your pages visitors, to the technology (OSX/ PC/ Iphone/Samsung…) there are using, passing through an exhaustive comparison of different periods of time… Through this tool you can : add annotations on dates, create segments and funnels, request a real time report, analyze reports… The goal? Well, it helps you understand your visitors behavior, and implement a better/effective/suitable SEO strategy.

Nevertheless, it’s important to keep in mind that GoogleA is not a tool to gather precise date ! Indeed we use Google A to see trends. Thus, most of the analytics you have are not accurate.

★Soooo?

During this week I’ll be reading a Marketing e-book and attending a marketing webinar, I’ll tell you all about it in my next post !

I am really happy you made it this far !

cat bye goodbye done im out

    LOL – “Well… for some (@Josh, @Jeff, @Paul) what I should wish for, now, is a date !!!!!”

Great work on your first post, Kenza! I’m glad you included some hilarious GIFs in your post. You’re crushing it with Code Academy! Already at 70%!? (All I’ll say is: that is a much quicker pace than I completed it…) Good job!

I’m glad to hear you’re excited about Google Analytics. It is one of the most important tools Craig and I use to make (data-driven) marketing decisions. If you can master GA you’re already on the right track to be one badass marketer and business person 🙂

Looking forward to next week’s post! Keep up the good work, Kenza.

Kenza, amazing first post! I love the fact that not only did you finish Code Academy faster then schedule but you ALSO wrote the blog post before it was assigned 🙂 Love the proactivity!

When I first taught myself to code I was heavily reliant on Google as well. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, it means you’re scrappy. I fondly remember looking up how to do very basic things like padding/margin and tinkering websites together for personal projects. Were you ever stuck in any of the code academy challenges?

It also looks like you have gotten a much better understand of WordPress as well as Google Analytics which is great to hear. These are two of the most important tools to many companies and marketers all around the world.

Congratulations on joining an elite but small club of marketers who know how to do basic front end web development!!!

Hey Craig 🙂 Thanks for your comment, and sorry for the delay, I just have seen it !!! In fact,I had some issues with padding and how to properly use CSS. But I tried to understand the logic behind, while doing all the exercices.

I am very excited to learn even more !!!! Any other coding language I need to learn?
